Saying goodbye to a decade…
For some reason, it just dawned on me this morning that we’re about to head into a new decade. AdAge released some pretty cool lists about Ideas of the Decade, Best TV Spots of the Decade, and Best Non-TV Campaigns of the Decade, and Business Insider told us 21 Things that Became Obsolete this Decade…which got me thinking about how much has happened in these past 10 years.
2000 was the year I graduated middle school, and I’ve since graduated high school (2004), college (2008), and started my career. I purchased a home and got engaged. — That’s a long way from middle school! We elected the first black president (I helped!), and have fought through a recession (which I truly hope we’re about to come out of). Gas prices reached about $5 a gallon (luckily they came back down)! Twitter, Facebook, etc. changed the way we connect to the world! Blogging gave everyone an outlet to share their thoughts. Mobile phones got really cool! (Most people didn’t even have them in 1999, right?) Computers got a lot better too! Our world has become ultra-digital! And Pluto’s not a planet anymore!
But I guess what I’m trying to say is that when we look back on it all, the world has really changed! And I’m hopeful that the next 10 years will be just as awesome (and hopefully the economy will be doing a little better)!
I’m curious what awesome new gadgets will come out between 2010 and 2019. Maybe we’ll be like the Jetson’s…hehe! Will cars fly? I honestly don’t know. I’m not one for tech predictions. I’m just excited to be along for the ride : )
What I do know…is that this next decade means big things for me. I’m getting married. I’ll start a family. Maybe upgrade homes…who knows?! Hopefully the world doesn’t end in 2012 (for the record, I don’t believe the Mayans!)… What do you think the next decade has in-store for you?
