I mentioned the SMR in my last blog entry, and since then I’m discovering more and more how useful it really is (especially since it came out of beta last week with great updates)…which is why I’ve decided to devote an entire blog entry to my new favorite toy – Pitch Engine!

“PitchEngine is PR for the Social Web.”
It basically allows you to easily convert a press release into an easy-to-share package that can be distributed thoughout the web 2.0 world in a matter of clicks. It’s no secret that the “public” is coming back to public relations through social media, so it’s important to make sure that’s reflected in our releases.

Each Pitch Engine SMR includes the full release copy, a Twitter pitch, news facts, photos, videos, links, suggested tags, a comment box, and of course the boilerplate information and contact person.

The basic level of service is FREE. If you want to archive your releases or keep a client newsroom, there’s a pretty reasonable monthly fee. Otherwise, releases expire after 30 days.

Pitch Engine also takes it upon itself to share the SMRs with Google News, the PitchFeed and other social sites and show you how many views the release gets.

To learn more, check out Pitch Engine. And no, they haven’t paid me to promote this haha…but it would be nice to get some commission
